The original Flash website including soundtrack

For those of you too young to know, in the early days of the web there was an app called “Flash” that was able to create sophisticated multimedia presentations on the web. It was an amazingly capable app, even by today’s standards.

This Flash site was created created by me circa 2001–3 to promote Drumming Patterns; the animation was synchronized to a loop-based soundtrack that I also created. My idea for the soundtrack was to use samples of drumming from around the world, to reinforce the idea of the universal nature of the drumming patterns presented in my book.

This approach made for an effective website at the time; however, these days I doubt that many people would have the patience to make it all the way to the sales pitch at the end!
